In addition to his role with the Seahawks, Tayvon is deeply invested in creating opportunities for young athletes to grow and thrive both on and off the court. His collaborative approach and vision have made him a respected figure in the local sports and business community, reflecting his unwavering dedication to empowering others and driving success.
Vanessa Patterson
Team Market Owner
Vanessa Patterson is a Financial Advisor at New Perspective Financial Solutions, dedicated to helping clients secure their financial futures through retirement and beyond. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Mount St. Mary’s University and a Master’s in Mathematics & Statistics. Alongside her financial expertise, Vanessa is a licensed Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. Recently, she expanded her community involvement by becoming the Team Market Owner (TMO) of the Capital Seahawks in The Basketball League, where she aims to empower athletes, foster community spirit, and build lasting opportunities in sports. In her free time, Vanessa loves traveling, exploring new restaurants, and cheering on her daughter in lacrosse and gymnastics—alongside rooting for the Seahawks.
Michael Burroughs
General Manager
Michael Burroughs is an accomplished executive known for his strategic vision and strong leadership in corporate team management. With a background in operations, technology, and analytics, he has a proven track record of building sustainable teams capable of crossing the finish line. He served as Chief Information Officer and Chief Digital Officer for two companies with over $300M in sales.
While serving as an executive in the corporate world for 25 years, Burroughs always spent time with his labor of love…basketball. He volunteered as a scout for numerous local college teams, coached high school basketball and high school AAU, and personally trained several Washington All-Met basketball players and other high school players who played college basketball. These roles in scouting, coaching, and player development allowed him to hone his ability to evaluate talent and understand the game’s nuances. His analytical approach to decision-making will help the Southern Maryland Seahawks optimize their performance and navigate the complexities of the TBL.
In his role as General Manager, Burroughs emphasizes collaboration and communication. He works closely with coaches, scouts, and players to create a cohesive team environment. His commitment to player development has made him respected in Maryland basketball circles.
The “Seahawks” name pays tribute to Maryland’s native bird, symbolizing focus, resilience, and strength—qualities we strive to embody every game. Beyond sportsmanship, we are committed to promoting financial literacy, using the power of sports as a platform to educate, connect, and inspire our community. Through Tayvon’s and Vanessa’s leadership, the Seahawks aim to create a welcoming space where fans of all ages can come together to enjoy the game, grow through learning opportunities, and celebrate community spirit.
